- Annual celebrations such as the Egg Drop science project, Día de Los Muertos, Career Day, Martin Luther King Day assembly, Lunar New Year, Read-a-Thon, Young Author’s Day, International Arts Celebration with Hamilton International Middle School and Field Day
- Multi-age interaction and support such as Reading Buddies; “Roots of Empathy” (see below); “Special Friends” senior citizens who provide mentoring and support; tutors and mentors from the University of Washington, America Reads and local high schools

- PTSA-sponsored events including the Move-a-thon, Monster Mash Halloween party, International Dinner and Rummage Sale

- Multi-media technology instruction and state-of-the art technology throughout the building, including Internet 2 capability; a ratio of 1:5 computer/students per class; a 32-computer lab; 10 computers in the library; and an array of projectors, laptops and other equipment donated to the school through the Intel “Best of the Best” Award
